A long career in the service of society

Progressive Women's Association "Victoria Kent" develops a sustained effort to achieve the goals advocated its creation in 1991 focused, in general, to achieve a society in which all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity or religion, have the same opportunities to participate equally in the various sectors of society.
To achieve these objectives, the Association focuses its efforts on the comprehensive care of women victims of gender violence and the reporting of this social scourge, as well as preventing all forms of violence, promoting interculturalism and performance with individuals and groups suffering or at risk of social exclusion.
"Victoria Kent" has a team of psychologists, lawyers, anthropologists, social workers, counselors, labor, promoting equality, intercultural mediators and monitors that address, as an absolutely free, comprehensive care of clients and users of these services.

Steady increase in demand

Year after year the Association has adapted to the needs of the social environment, defined in both studies conducted by its technical staff and by the application itself detected by the team, which grows each year.

The increase in the number of users who daily attend the Association for help, not only from the city, but from the region, the province and the autonomous region, and a continued increase in programs that are serving with different population groups, has made the Association's headquarters, currently located in the street Regino Martínez de Algeciras, become overloaded due to lack of space.

That's why the Ayuntamiento of Algeciras gave in due course "Victoria Kent" a land on which to build a new headquarters, which allows dignified care to all those who need attention.
It should be noted that the Association finances its activities, provided free of charge, thanks to the support it receives from the various administrations and the contributions of its associates and partners and donations from individuals who sympathize with the work and develops.

Therefore, economic resources "Victoria Kent" are limited and since the transfer of land, thanks to subsidies from the Migration Policy Area of the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Employment of the Junta de Andalucía in Cadiz, has been achieved the drafting of the base and project implementation, with all the processing that both involved.

Throughout this year, the Association intends to undertake an awareness campaign, which appeals to the solidarity of citizens and citizens with this project, which will serve to dignify the care of people who go to "Victoria Kent and have sufficient space and that favors the encounter between the groups to which their performance targets.

Progressive Women's Association "Victoria Kent" has always had social support to all initiatives and that is why, once again, appeals to the sensitivity and solidarity of citizens and the citizens to make this project a reality in the shortest time possible.
As a first step in an awareness campaign that will launch throughout 2011, the Association has opened a bank account in "La Caixa", which anyone interested can make a financial contribution, in whatever amount , which will be used in full to the construction of the new headquarters.
